Martin has spent most of his life in the Malden area, allowing him to appreciate its wonder to its core. During his formative years, Martin and his co-author were inseparable. Their love for books got them in trouble when they brought all the books their families owned to school to create their own mini-library complete with personalized library cards for their classmates.

In the present day, Martin has found his passion in the food hospitality industry. His career is built on crafting memorable experiences for others through the warm embrace of exceptional hospitality. He thrives on fostering connections with his teammates and delights in the collaborative spirit of the industry.

A true lover of the outdoors, Martin finds solace and joy in activities that bring him close to the water. Whether it's a peaceful day by the Kanawha River or the soothing sounds of a nearby stream, these natural settings inspire him. His outlook on life is defined by its lighter side, characterized by an ever-present sense of positivity and laughter.

Family is at the core of Martin's world. His lifelong connection to Malden, shared with his mother and sister, is a source of pride and comfort. The strong bonds of community and family infuse his writing with a sense of warmth and authenticity.

Kimberli Milhoan

Kimberli's journey is rooted in her deep connection to Malden, where she spent her formative years. Born and raised in Charleston, she attended Malden Elementary School, where her love for storytelling first blossomed.

Kimberli and co-author Martin’s bond was forged in the heart of Malden, where they not only shared countless adventures but also penned their very first book in the second grade: The House On Top. This enduring friendship fuels their creative collaboration, igniting a shared passion for storytelling.

Today, Kimberli resides in one of Malden's historic houses, where she embraces the enchanting allure of living history. She spends her days in the world of finance, and maintains her hobbies by night - writing, painting, dancing, and spending time with family.

While Kimberli's roots are firmly planted in Malden now, her journey took her from Colorado to Pittsburgh to Medellín, Colombia for almost a decade. Yet, the call of the majestic mountains of West Virginia was irresistible. Returning to her beloved home, Kimberli is now on a mission to unearth and share the rich history of this enchanting region, ensuring that the stories of years gone by are not forgotten.
